Living in Albany, California
Albany is a small town sitting in the midst of the more metropolitan east bay. It spreads over superficies of about one square mile, and comprises some 18,000 residents. Albany Hill is a wonderful landmark which can be seen far and wide. Some 134 native plants have been recognized to grow there - plants which were important to the original Ohlone Indians who used to live there.
Albany prides itself on a low crime rate and on an excellent school system with a student population with scores among the highest in the state. Albany's main street is Solano, with many nice little shops and restaurants serving a diversity of culinary delicacies. Once a year in September there is the famous Solano Stroll which attracts a lot of visitors. And one cannot speak of Albany without mentioning its very popular Golden Gate Tracks - one of the largest thoroughbred racetracks in the United States.
